In March of 2024, representatives of Francis LLC traveled down to Orlando, FL to receive an Eddy Award at the Pension & Investments annual Defined Contribution East Conference.
Francis’ Plan It Forward campaign brought home a Second-Place award in the Financial Wellness category, recognizing the excellence of this initiative.
What is the Plan It Forward campaign?
This unique program sought to increase financial planning conversations surrounding will preparation with financial wellness participants.
Establishing a last will is a vital component of financial wellness, yet it is something that the average American worker often delays. According to a 2021 Gallup survey, just less than half of Americans (46%) currently have a will that describes how they would like their children, money, and estate handled upon their death.
The campaign consisted of group education events on how to talk about and plan for the passing of money between family members. Participants were encouraged to sign up for a financial planning session with a Francis Planner to discuss their estate planning needs.
At their financial planning session, employees learned about the key decisions required when completing a will, as well as options for getting it done. If the participant chose to engage a local attorney, Francis planners worked with the employee to locate a professional best suited to their needs.
Additionally, Francis engaged Trust & Will, a leading provider of will preparation services, as an online option for employees. Francis LLC received no referral fees or remuneration of any kind from this organization. Trust & Will did extend a 10% discount to employees on will preparation.
The Success of the Campaign
Plan It Forward started important conversations for many participants and their families, and there was a marked increase in the prevalence of conversations on estate planning during Francis’ financial planning sessions.
Year over year (2022 to 2023), Francis planners experienced a 249% increase in the number of planning sessions on this topic and a 25% increase overall in financial planning session demand during the campaign period (January 2023 versus January 2022).
Participants were able to better prepare themselves and their loved ones for the future.
